Here's an "Amazon Short" on
writing query letters. Normally Amazon Shorts cost 49 cents, and you
download them electronically. I haven't read this one, but I
know Noah Lukeman's reputation and he is highly regarded in the writing
community. This should be very good. And the price is
sure right! Check this out:
Here's an e-book about writing e-books!
I haven't read this one so I can't give a recommendation, but it looks like
a good one: How to Write and Publish Your Own eBook...in as Little
as 7 Days by Jim Edwards and Joe Vitale Click Here!
Novelist Randy Ingermanson has
recently produced his fiction writing courses called Fiction 101 and
Fiction 201. These are available as e-books or with audio. I
have Randy's Fiction 101 and while I have not read it all, what I have
read is very close to the course I sat in on that Randy taught at the 2005
Colorado Christian Writers Conference. It is very good and helpful.
Randy says he plans to produce Fiction 301 and 401 in the future.

November is "National Novel Writing
Month"! Ready to take the challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in one
month? For details, visit
www.NaNoWriMo.org.
For aspiring novelists, check
out Randy Ingermanson's site at
http://www.rsingermanson.com/. For plotting help, he's especially
well known for his "Snowflake" method--find it on his site. If you're
thinking you might have to be a rocket scientist to plot a great novel, you
may be right. Randy really is a rocket scientist (physicist)!
He also has a fiction-writing e-mailed newsletter so be sure to sign up for
that. Here's a sample of his writing...just a couple of his novels.
W. Terry Whalin has a huge web
site with oodles of information for writers. He has written a whole
bunch of books and has worked as an editor, most recently as fiction
acquisition editor for Howard Books. He is the author of Book
Proposals that $ell, a book I highly recommend if you're writing a
non-fiction book. Find his web site at
www.right-writing.com .
Notice that he has a search function on his site, so you can search for
information on the topic you're especially interested in (for example, search
"book proposals"). Mr. Whalin also has an e-mailed newsletter for
writers that you can sign up for and a blog you can check out.
Terry Whalin also graciously provides the "Writing Tip of the Day" you see on
my home page. Thanks, Terry!

Robert McKee's Story Seminar.
He's gruff. But he's knows his stuff. His seminar gets down to the
nitty gritty of how to build a story. Take his seminar, or read his book,
Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of Screenwriting.
I felt his seminar was pretty much his book performed live. (I attended in
Las Vegas, December 2005.) If you take the seminar, I'd highly recommend
you read the book first--I got far more out of the seminar because I had read
it. Find information on the seminar at
www.MckeeStory.com. Robert McKee is well-known in Hollywood and his
seminar is considered the premier training for screenwriters. Great for
novelists, too.
Here's the book:
At Robert McKee's Story Seminar, I purchased
the software program they recommended for writing screenplays: Final
Draft: Just add words.

I love the free tools I can add to my web site offered by Bravenet. Add
a bit of humor to your site with thier daily cartoon or a touch of history with
their "This Day in History." Add a hits counter or any number of other
free items. Just remember they're always trying to sell you something, so
make sure you get the free one (or the one you want).

Many of you ask about agents and how to tell if an agent is
reputable. Here are some sites with good information about agents as well
as information on particular agents. I highly recommend you check out any
prospective agent before you sign on with him or her. These sites should
help you do that:
Novelist Randy Ingermanson's Mad
Genius Writer e-zine and his web site, both of which he started in January
2007, have been re-combined with his Advanced Fiction Writing e-zine and
web site where they were previously to January 2007.
www.advancedfictionwriting.com His marketing e-zines were
archived when they were published as Mad Genious Writer E-zine, but I
haven't been able to located them on his Advanced Fiction Writing site.
(If you find them, please let me know where they are.) I found them
extremely worthwhile. Sign up for his free Advanced Fiction Writing E-zine
to receive his marketing column included with that. Randy is also blogging
at
