ABOUT DIANNE 

HER FREELANCE WRITING

​

Dianne E. Butts has been writing professionally since 1989. She was first published in The Lookout in 1991. Since then she has almost 300 published print articles in national and international publications including the Salvation Army’s international magazine War Cry!, Focus on the Family magazine, The Plain Truth, On Mission, Live, The Lutheran Message, Standard, Evangel, Enrichment Journal, Light and Life, and Encounter. Her articles have been published in Great Britain, Bulgaria, Poland, Canada, and Korea.

In addition, Dianne has written more than 100 articles for online sites such as CBN.com, Crosswalk.com, FindingGodDaily.com, ThinkingAboutSuicide.com, and TheChristianPulse.com. Her devotion won the first award given on AWSA’s AriseDaily.com.

HER BOOK WRITING

 

Dianne is the author of six printed books.  Deliver Me, which was awarded Nonfiction Book of the Year in 2012 from Christian Small Publisher’s Association (now the Christian Indie Publishing Assn.) in the Family/Relationships category, and was a finalist for the Golden Scroll Nonfiction Book of the Year awarded by Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA).

Her co-authored book, Grandparenting Through Obstacles was named Book of the Year from Christian Small Publisher’s Association (now the CIPA) in 2013, also in the Family/Relationships category, was named one of GRAND magazine’s Best Grandparenting Books in 2012, and won Nonfiction Book of the Year at The Book Club Network.

Her other books are Dear AmericaProphecies Fulfilled in the Birth of Jesus , Prophecies Fulfilled in the Death & Resurrection of Jesus, and Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Jesus.

​

In addition to her own books, Dianne has contributed to 21 other books. Her stories appear in four Chicken Soup for the Soul books including 101 Best Stories of Faith, two Cup of Comfort books, and Zondervan’s New Women’s Devotional Bible

​

Dianne has also published two series of Kindle e-books: one series for writers and the other on Christian topics, including The 7 Feasts of the LORD, a short collection of her blog posts on this topic.

HER FILM & SCREENWRITING

​

In other areas, author Erica Wiggenhorn has called Dianne “the unexplainable film-maker for Jesus!” Dianne’s journey to production started with a desire to use her writing talents to write faith-friendly screenplays.

​

Dianne attended the Act One Writing Program "Writing for Hollywood" in Los Angeles in 2010. Then also graduated from Act One's Producing & Entertainment Executive Program 2020.

 

Among her screenwriting accomplishments, her feature film, Jenna’s Light, placed as a top ten finalist in Movieguide’s “Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays” in February 2015. Her screenplay, Daemon, was a semifinalist in The Kairos Prize in 2013.

​

She began producing her own short scripts into short films in 2012 with The Choice, based on a true story in her book Deliver Me. Dianne wrote the script, produced, and directed.

 

In 2017 Dianne produced/directed a short documentary, The Door, which won Best Documentary and the Evangelista Award, for the film with the clearest presentation of the Gospel, at the 168 Film Festival in Los Angeles.  

 

In 2018 Dianne co-wrote, co-produced, and co-directed her film Thoughts & Prayers which was nominated for 15 awards and brought Dianne the 168 Film Festival’s Evangelista Award for the second year in a row.

HER SPEAKING 

 

She is also a speaker and teaches at writer’s conferences. She is a regular workshop teacher at the Colorado Christian Writers Conference in Estes Park, Colorado and has taught at the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference and other writers' events.

​

​

Dianne is a member of Advance Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) and a member of the board of directors of its parent organization Right to the Heart Ministries.

​

HER LIFE BESIDES WRITING 

​

She is a past member of Christian Small Publishers Association (now CIPA).

​

Dianne lives in southern Colorado with her husband of 40 years, Hal, a retired Colorado State Patrol Major. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys riding her motorcycle with Hal, gardening, and photography. As members, they ride for the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
